Filmed at El Dorado Park in Scottsdale, AZ
Written, produced, filmed, and finalized within 48 hours. This was my first ever 48-hour film challenge and I couldn’t have asked for a better team or a better concept. In conjunction with the play Keysmash and the cities of Scottsdale and Glendale, Rising Youth Theatre aimed to create a series of short films depicting mental health.
My group chose to convey how mental health feels in your body. Filmed at El Dorado park in Scottsdale, Arizona, we focused on the idea of being over stimulated and having a panic attack in public. We heavily relied on sound to invoke a sense of anxiety in our audience.
I served as the head of the art department and helped to storyboard out the film. I also worked as the primary editor of the film and edited around 50 minutes of footage down to a 5 minute film. I have done a few video projects here and there but never one as artistic and expressive as this one and certainly not in as tight of a time crunch.
My team was incredible and I am so thankful for RYT allowing me to be apart of this process. If you can, please check out our film Passing By and our fellow RYT ensemble’s film Access.
